Something Of Interest

Just something I want to share with all of you-

I keep getting this spam in my inbox on another website I own/maintain.

<paste in crap body text from spam email>

Dear Website Owner,

65% of people searching the Internet will never find your web site unless you're ranked on first page of Google, MSN, or Yahoo. If I help you obtain as much as 4 times more WEB traffic to your online business by promoting you to the first page of the search engines would you be interested?

Our company is on the first page when you search on Google for our primary search term "SEO Company." We would like to do the same for your web site so you can come up for your main keywords as well? All of our processes use the most ethical "white hat" Search Engine Optimization techniques that will not get your website banned or penalized.

This special SEO program includes:

• No upfront fees

• A month-to-month program

• More traffic guaranteed

Please reply to my email and I would be happy to send you a proposal.

OK, so this company wants to help me out by making sure that if somebody searches for "Kellan Meig'h", they will find me. You know, that's not a bad idea, just in the off chance somebody couldn't find me. And this sounds good dollar-wise, too. No up front charges seems to be pretty confident they can help.

So, try this: go to ask.com, msn.com, yahoo.com and google.com, the big four search sites. Type in Kellan Meig'h and see what happens. Amazingly enough, I seem to be on top of all of the search engines. Good metatags is all it took. No secrets, no hokus-pokus. I'll share this little secret for free, too. Don't send me any $$$ for this information-it's all free on the 'net!

The thing that stands out about this particular scammer/spammer is this: do a search on google.com for "SEO Company" just like they ask and check the output. Pretty scary, huh? Notice they never mention their company name? Did I mention the person sending this email used a gmail account that has no ties or suggestions that this mail came from an SEO Company? Did I also mention that the address is non-existant? Verdugo Way is in Camarillo, CA, by the way. The mail's originating IP address was in Tustin, for those that were curious.

If you need help with metatags, there are numerous sites on the 'net that will tell you how to optimize your site. You don't need this scammer/spammer to help you do what you can do for yourself. If you have questions, email me and the Old Warhorse promises that I'll help you out. Honest. No strings attached. Well, maybe a link back to my site ...

As a side note, the new pain management medication the doctor prescribed today seem to be helping as the Old Warhorse is not feeling that much pain tonight. A litle pain, but it's very tolerable. Now, if I can sleep better and actually get some rest, I will be one happy stallion.

Wednesday's Blog for 4/22/09

Here's a little treat for all of my (two?) readers. Steam locomotive #UP844 coming through the Centerville station at about 40 miles per hour, enroute to Sacramento. Be sure to look at the related videos after you watch mine and remember to turn your speakers off if you're at work. That whistle is loud!

Just a little blog for today. The weather's been cooler but the muse is still missing in action.

I will try to take some pictures at the Woodland, CA Scottish games for all to see.

Slainte,

Kellan, the old warhorse.

Better Late Than Never ...

Well, here I sit, slightly melted around the edges from the heat, trying to put words to blog.

It's been hot here. So hot, I have been having trouble sleeping. It's not enough that my back has been keeping me awake and these 'tremors' waking me up but the heat has to get into the act too. Hopefully it will cool off the end of this week.

What I ask of my friends is this; if you see my muse, send her home so I can get just one of these 5 stories moving again. I dunno, maybe it's because I'm depressed, or I have cabin fever like you wouldn't believe, but I just can't get any of these stories going again.

Even more depressing is my Sharks had their behinds (fins?) handed to them by the Ducks! Gah, that's so depressing! Well, maybe not for SC, who might find some solace in seeing his hometown team give the Sharks what for.

Blog some more later,

Kellan, the tired old warhorse.

Thursday's Blog

A bit of rambling here-

I just wanted to start by saying that I have been very lax in my blogging ... well, that's not rue. I have flat @$$ ignored my blog for a while now and I really think it's because of the situation.

I've been working at getting the old body ready to go back to work but it seems that I may indeed not go back to my job. This is bad due to the economic situation right now. My work and the workman's compensation insurance has pretty much said 'You're not going to be retrained' if you can't come back to work. That would put me on State Disability that would not provide enough for us to get by on.

Don't get me wrong, my Tigress works a full time job so we wouldn't be out on the street but we would have to tighten our belts very tight.

I also have been ignoring good friends, too. SC, I owe you an email as well as my Danish friend, Aslaug.

Anyway, there was more I wanted to say but my depression, coupled with this physical thing that I'm experiencing besides the back, have been sapping my ability to write. What's been going on is this thing, for better word to call it, has been happening. Not constantly, but intermittently my muscles twitch 'slightly', like I'm being shocked by an AC current. Sometimes it's my legs, other times it my lower back or shoulders, sometimes it's my whole body, it seems. It happens mostly after I have been asleep for a few hours so it wakes me up and it takes hours to go back to sleep.

I will be going to a Kaiser Hospital, soon, I hope, for a sleep study. Like I will be able to sleep all wired for sound!

As a note, Chapter 26 is still not ready for prime time. Sorry, gang but that's how it goes. Hopefully my (few) loyal readers will hang in there and be patient.

Thanks for reading,

Kellan, the old warhorse.
