Tuesday the 24th of February

Just some nonsensical blogging-

AS I have stated before, it looked like my income while on Workman's Comp was being messed with by the powers that be. As I should have expected, our union contract (SEIU) allowed them to cut my pay after 180 days.

What this means to my Tigress and myself is we will have to figure out how to get by on a 60% reduction in my pay. This is a significant amount to be reduced by and I am well aware that it may make things very tight for a while.

I am thankful that my Tigress has a job so we won't be starving but it may mean I will have to revert back to dial-up. Gah, I hate that thought. I have always kept NetZero as a backup provider since Comcast doesn't provide a dial-up alternate when their system is down. This means we might have to get a new phone service because our phone is through Comcast too. Just another thing to have to deal with.

Since I will be on dial-up, this might mean I will have less time to hang out on forums and such. I will have continued access to my email so that doesn't change that aspect. Aslaug, if you read this, don't worry. I will still be able to communicate with you.

So, on to the other things-

Today I received an email that stated the Old Gray Raccoon was shutting down the PlanetFurry forum for the Bookshelf. For those that inhabit PlanetFurry, this was kind of a shock. Especially since he left no reason why. I went to the forum he indicated he would be inhabiting, signed up and then found out I couldn't read or post into any forum! Weird!

I just hope every thing's OK at his place.

...and now for my muse ... (grr!)

I have exactly 5 stories right now that have hit a stone wall. I hope this isn't a burnout but it may just be. I just can't find the motivation to keep writing at this point. I know where I want all of these stories to go but when I try to write, it looks like a three year old is in control of my hands. Just straight garbage. Not worthy of publishing. Just pure barf.

I have the sneaking suspicion that it's related to being cooped up in the house with a back that's too bad to enjoy anything that I find enjoyable. That means no horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking ... you get the idea. Even one hour in a car is enough to put me in bed the next day. You don't know how bad I want to just go out and do something, regardless to how bad I will be hurting the next day.

The back, the $$$ situation, the writer's block ... it's all conspiring to put the hurt on the old warhorse. I've already caught myself being snippy with my wife, which isn't right. I apologized to her and she said she understood but again, it's just not right. What I need is for something, anything to start going my way.

Hopefully, things will get better. If not, I'm not sure how I will cope. It's getting tough.

Sorry to unload on all of my readers,

Kellan, the old warhorse

The day after Valentine's Day

Just an update-

I received a phone call from my work last Friday, informing me my pay while out on disability was going to be cut substantially.

It seems that once you're out for over six months, My pay from my employer drops by pretty much 80%. I still haven't heard from our Workman's Comp carrier to see what they will kick in. This may cause a huge bind in the old warhorse's style.

Well, I can tell you, the Tigress and I are kinda worried about his. I had hoped to go back to work a lot sooner than this but my back just isn't cooperating. Hopefully I will hear something by Tuesday that might be encouraging.

As a side note, Chapter 22 of "A Loss Of Rights" has been posted,

Take care,

Kellan

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

Well, just sitting here, working on a few stories to try to get everything just so.

As most of you know, I have attended Further Confusion a few years in a row now. Since the last con, my daughter and I have decided to make fursuits! Yep, you heard it here, We're going suiting! We have even garnered the support of my Tigress in this endeavor. As a side note, I will be posting the progress as we go, showing the good, the bad and the ugly. I'll be adding a new category on my website to post the progress.

My daughter's first suit will be a canid, white with some minimal black markings. Not too hard, I suppose. My first suit will be a Pronghorn Antelope named Buck Hunter. He will be done complete with a fluorescent orange hunter's vest, a 'human tag' hanging from his vest and an 'obviously fake' double barreled 'Fudd Gun' over his shoulder. It should be interesting.

Lastly, I've finally recovered (for the most part) from that dratted flu/cough/chest congestion that I have been suffering from since the 20th of December. I hope that those of you that got stricken by this have recovered. That goes double for my friend Aslaug.

Y'all take care and be well,

Kellan, the (tired) old warhorse

Sunday's Blog for February First

Just a short blog for Sunday

Chapter 21 of A Loss Of Rights has been posted for your reading pleasure.

On another note, a lot of you know I use a Dell Inspiron 1501 for my writing. Here recently, I took it to bed with me to do some writing before turning in. Because I was exhausted, I failed to plug it in to the wall, leaving me running on battery power only. That wouldn't be an issue if I had the high capacity battery except I don't.

Anyways, I wasn't paying attention to the power level so consequently my laptop ran out of juice. Not feeling up to plugging it in and rebooting to the carnage left behind, I waited until the next day to start it back up. I was welcomed by a new chunk of verbage on my screen;

"Warning: The Battery cannot be identified. This system will be unable to charge this battery."

Well, this really upset me at first, thinking my laptop was destined for an early grave. After much searching online, ti was suggested to flash the bios to a new level. I did so, finding it indeed fixed the problem.

Anyway, still trying to recover from this flu that went around. Hopefully I will be better in a week or so.

Be well and take care,

Kellan, the old warhorse
