Just a short blog on Tuesday
Further Confusion 2009 came and went, leaving us chomping at the bit for next year.
For those of you that didn't go, here's some figures.
- 2,587 Attendees
- 530 fursuits in the parade (25 minutes worth!)
- $43,541 USD raised for charity
- Moves to the Fairmont Hotel, San Jose, CA for 2010! We finally outgrew the Doubletree this year.
Anyway, we went, we saw, we got hooked, attending four panels on fursuit construction. We learned a lot from the masters of the craft, such as don't go to Joanne's Fabrics to buy your fur! All four panels mentioned this!
We got the rare chance to see a few large wild cats that were brought this year and the Masquerade, Furmily Feud and Furry Night Live performances were great.
I did learn something, though. My Kodak Z1285 leaves much to be desired for the types of photos I was trying to get. I will need a better camera by next year. Maybe a Canon EOS Rebel Xsi 12.2 MP that uses my existing SD cards.
My Tigress even attended, stalking the Dealer's Den for bounty. She dropped about $100 USD in there, believe it or not!
Anyway, here's a pic of Zaqtly, Teric, myself and my little filly Champagne. Thanks to Teric and his other roomie behind the camera for the shot. That's his room, BTW. And yes, I'm wearing a kilt because I can! I was very comfortable the whole con in that respect. That was until Monday, when I mistakenly wore P@NTS to the con! 8(
We had fun and we can't wait to go back.
Speaking of backs, mine tortured me all weekend so I'm glad to be home to rest up. I still haven't unpacked, yet!

Well, just an update ...
Yesterday (Thursday) was the first offcial day of Further Confusion.
My daughter and I went down to the Doubletree Hotel to get my Pre-reg badge and pay for my daughter's badge. Well, we didn't do that because there was NO EFFING PARKING!!
Maybe I should clarify that; there was parking, if you wanted to pay for the very pricey valet parking. Needless to say, we did not get to attend.
I just hope this doesn't set the tone for the rest of the con.
Hopefully we will get to meet with Teric and a few others today.

Tuesday's notes for ya ...
It's Tuesday and I have somewhat recovered from our Burns Supper. I thought I would share a few pics with all of you.
Here's myself and my wife
And The Old Warhorse and his youngest daughter
THis shot was taken the next day outside of The Seabright Brewery, Santa
Cruz. I'm in the lower left, black shirt, the tigress is behind me and
the filly is to the right of her, almost hiding!
... And I will regret this ... how about the Old Warhorse stumbling
through The Immortal Memory? I had consumed a bit 'o scotch and two
doses of Dayquil to stop my cough long enough to give my oratory. Please
don't try drinking something while watching this; you might lose a
keyboard or monitor!
Anyways, enjoy and take care!

Friday's Updates -
This weekend is the Nor-Cal Kilted Rabbles' Burns Supper!
It's all about Celebrating the life and times of Scotland's Greatest bard, Rabbie Burns.
There will be haggis, neeps and tatties, music, scotch and good company.
As such, there will no story posted this weekend. I will try to get something up the middle of next week for you.
Take care and be well,
Kellan, the old warhorse.

A Quick Note-
Just to let y'all know, the picture gallery for the Tractor and Truck museums will be down for a bit today.
NOTE* Album back up after having all the pics resized for your viewing pleasure to 800 X 600.
Just to let ya know, I used Picasa 3 from Google to edit the pictures. It resized them without losing the picture's EXIF data. It's freeware and it did the job perfectly.

An Update for Wednesday ...
Well, just a quick update for y'all.
I will be adding another chapter of "A Loss Of Rights" for your reading pleasure this Saturday.
On a side note, my friend Aslaug Aslaug's Axe Shed was to post her prologue for her newest story "Witchhammer" today.
I can only guess her webmaster Bastion had trouble posting it. I know this will be a very good story from Aslaug's fertile mind.
That's all for now so stay tuned.
Remember, leave a note on Kellan's Forum if you're reading any of the stories I have penned.
Bye for now,
Kellan, the old warhorse

Just a short update-
I have added the truck portion of the pictures to the Truck and Tractor Museums for your viewing pleasure. The link takes you to the first truck picture. There are 32 of them on all.
The pics from the museum were poor because the light was only from the translucent panels in the ceiling, allowing the natural light in. The camera kept compensating for the low light (look at camera exposure setting for each pic) so consequently, the pics were grainy.
By the way, that item I asked everyone to take a guess at, the one SC guessed was a scalp, is actually a sporran! Ya gotta remember, my kilts are traditional in that they have no pockets! Where's a scotsman supposed to carry his things? Spooran means pouch in gaelic.
Y'all take care,
